With the establishment of C MOTTA, we made a deliberate decision: to withdraw from all legal rankings in which we had participated.
We are the first Brazilian “Full Stack AI” law firm, focused on corporate law, mergers and acquisitions, capital markets, corporate governance, executive compensation and strategic business decisions. Since our inception, we have used artificial intelligences in an integrated manner, deeply embedded in our legal and administrative areas, as a permanent cognitive structure of the firm. Internally, we treat these intelligences as operational partners, in a functional and organizational sense, always subject to human supervision, professional validation, quality controls and the ultimate responsibility of our lawyers and managers.
The decision to withdraw from the rankings is a natural result of this new model. By introducing our own structure, guided by genuine seniority, operational efficiency that allows fee predictability for our clients, responsible legal judgment and the structured use of technology, C MOTTA began to follow an institutional logic different from that which traditionally governs the exposure of law firms and professionals in the legal market.
Carlos Motta, several members of the teams previously led by him, and Guilherme Tranquillini were recognized, for several years, by the leading Brazilian and international legal rankings covering Brazil and Latin America.
In the final year of participation in rankings, in 2026, Carlos Motta was mentioned in all major rankings covering the Brazilian corporate legal market, including Chambers & Partners, the most prestigious global legal ranking, where he was ranked in three distinct categories: Mergers and Acquisitions, Equity Capital Markets and Debt Capital Markets. He was the only professional from the firm who had been a partner before founding C MOTTA to appear in three categories in the same edition.
We will, however, continue, when requested, to provide information regarding public transactions in which we have acted, subject to confidentiality duties, applicable professional rules and the ethical limits governing the legal profession. We see real value in the proper disclosure of public transactions, in the organization of market data, in legal events, in institutional discussions and in technical publications promoted by legal rankings and directories, particularly when they provide useful information to clients and contribute to the development of business law practice.
We thank the legal rankings and publications that, over the years, recognized our work and contributed to qualified debate in the market. We will follow separate paths with respect to individual rankings of lawyers and law firms, and we wish continued success to all.
The only recognition that will truly be valid and guide us will be that reflected in the confidence of our clients, a confidence that has always been and will continue to be earned through the technical quality of our work, responsibility in the conduct of transactions, careful stewardship of our clients’ human and financial resources, and the institutional consistency of our new model.
